Badhaka House represents the difficulties one faces in their chart. Astrology explains that planets are placed astronomically so that each house and every planet in the chart have an opposing energy or force within it. These energies can be found in the form Rashi (houses), and planets. This balance of opposing energy is what the Cosmic Law of Creation relies on. This opposing energy can be described as Badhaka Houses in the Birth Chart.
Old Vedic astrology texts do not provide much detail about the Badhaka concept. Prashna Marga has more information about the badhaka planets, as do a few other modern-era texts.
First, houses not listed in the birth chart should not be counted or taken into consideration when studying the badhakaas. It is a sign we look for to identify its badhaka.
According to BPHS Movable signs (Capricorns, Aries and Cancer) have badhaka at the 11th House. Fixed Signs (Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio) in 9th house. Dual Signs (Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini, Virgo) in 7th House. Obstructions, hindrances, and other problems will be felt only during the dasha/anthardhasha period under the badhakesh (lord sign of the badhaka)
Let’s say that a Capricorn ascendant is looking for the badhaka earth related to his/her health and longevity. Mars (11th lord), becomes the planet. This is where the Dasha and bukti periods of Mars should be carefully considered. This period of the dasha is characterized by poor management of their personal health.
You should also check their obstruction planet according to the matter. Sun (for Capricorn ascendant), will become a badhaka for career matters. Libra is the Capricorn ascendant’s 10th house, while Leo (11th Libran house) becomes the badhaka sign for matters of the 10th. It is necessary to examine the Sun’s position and dignity in order to determine the degree of obstructions or hindrances they face in their careers.
It is possible for the badhaka sign to become extremely irritating when the ascendant sign in question (Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius) is Gemini or Pisces. These ascendants’ badhaka planets are also having 7th lord kendradhipathi dosha. They can be neutralized only if they are placed in a house that is a trine or in conjunction to a trine Lord which is a natural, benefic planet.
As you can see, obstacles and hindrances exist in every birth chart. It is the law. In certain combinations of planets, badhaka can be more powerful than others, and a person may feel that everything is getting blocked or not working.
